How Can We Help?

The
National Weather Service has given a preliminary rating of EF3, with winds of 136-166 mph for the tornado in Cleburne. It left behind destruction and devastation. The Granbury tornado was even worse in it’s effect. We have an opportunity to help. Several groups are helping out with recovery efforts and they could use our help.
From the Cleburne Times Review, Cleburne officials have established a
resource assessment team and volunteer-donation site in the annex
building of Westhill Church of Christ at 1100 W. Westhill Drive. Those wanting to volunteer with clean-up efforts and other needs are
urged to visit the center and obtain a pass to access the city’s damaged
areas.
The Red Cross
The Red Cross is on the
scene and providing shelter for those who need it. It has opened two
shelters in Hood County and you can find their locations here. The Red Cross is not collecting items but encourages monetary donations at this time. You can use the Red Cross’ Safe and Well site to alert your loved ones that you are safe or if you are concerned about someone you can’t reach. In Cleburne, Red Cross volunteers are staging at the convention center, which has been opened as a shelter for storm victims.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army
went into action Wednesday night, deploying three Disaster Canteen
mobile kitchens to the area, with two more on standby. These canteens
provide food as well as emotional and spiritual support for the
residents and first responders affected by the storm.
The Humane Society of North Texas
When homes are lost,
families are displaced, including pets. And when there are only moments
to get to safety, pets can become separated from their owners in the
chaos. The Humane Society of North Texas is bringing a trailer to the area to help with animal control and displaced animals.
H-E-B
H-E-B is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross and will begin accepting customer donations for the victims of the recent tornadoes which devastated areas of North Texas. In addition, H-E-B will be encouraging customers to support tornado victims in North Texas through an in-store check-stand tear pad campaign.
