Sweating Bullets
I took my first sectional exam for graduate school a couple of days ago. I know my Bible says I shouldn’t worry about anything, since I can’t add a moment to my life or a fraction of an inch to my height by worrying. I have found I can add an inch or more to my waist, though, since I eat more when I’m stressing, but I don’t think that’s what Jesus was thinking about when he said it.
To make matters worse, it was a make-up test, since I was in Washington last week helping a friend with his fall fundraiser. My classmates were talking about how hard the test was when I got back.
So I studied and reread my chapters and made study guides with the vocabulary words and studied and reread and study guided. The day of the test, I was sweating bullets, since I’m an old guy now and my brain doesn’t seem to work like it did in my twenties. I sat down with the fifty questions and got started. About fifteen minutes later, I knocked on my professor’s door and said to his surprised face “This is either a good thing or a really bad thing.”
What are you worried about today? What are you doing to get ready for your test? Are you studying and rereading the most important text? It says not to worry and reminds us He is always with us, even unto the end of the age.
And in case you’re interested, I scored a 96%. It was all that studying.
For 88.3 The Journey, I’m studying for next week’s test and still General Manager Mike Agee.
