Too Many Boxes
“The next time we sell a house, I’m selling it furnished, with pictures, knick knacks and everything.” My family and I have been packing and unpacking, taking apart and putting together, picking up and putting down for what seems like weeks now. After six months of temporary housing, we finally moved into our new to us home last weekend. And my wife has had enough of cardboard boxes and packing tape.
This move, from Idaho to Texas, and this most recent move into another house, has me thinking about what’s important and what’s not, how my life is filled with the temporal, those things that have to be boxed up and carried about wherever I go. Its funny how things I had to have and spent money on in many cases, aren’t so important when they have to be carried eighteen hundred miles or even eight miles.
Its making me think about those things I have in my spirit I have boxed up and I’m lugging about, weighing me down and slowing me down in my walk with God. Makes me glad God has pushed me out of where I was comfortable and settled. Maybe I should drop these boxes filled with the unimportant beside the path and focus on Him.
What about you? Have some boxes you should be unpacking or laying down on your journey as well? Just a thought.
