Danae Dolinsky-Songy joined our staff August of 2014. She’s not new to 88.3, Danae worked here as a student from 2007-2009. Her husband, Jerrod Songy, is a Pastor and works at the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Danae is from Southern California but she’s lived all across the nation, even Hawaii for a year. She’s worked in radio in Texas and Michigan, in the classical and Christian formats. On the side she’s a personal trainer and a corrective exercise specialist. Her other hobbies include dogs, horses and teaching acrobatic aerial silks. Her best friend is Jesus and she hopes that His Love shines through the airwaves each weekday morning.
I am a self-professed radio and music geek. Christian music changed my life for the better at a young age and it’s been my privilege to share the Good News through music on the radio for over 30 years. Debra, my wife of 29 years, and I have 3 grown children and are settling into the empty nest life. When I’m not doing radio things, you’d probably find me playing my guitar or drums, playing Words With Friends or contemplating world domination from my backyard hammock.
I’d count Romans chapter 8 as my favorite part of the scriptures. Christian books that have made the most impact on my life include Roaring Lambs by Robert Briner and Finding Common Ground by Tim Downs. I have a ton of old Christian albums on vinyl from my younger days that I still love, like Mylon LeFevre, DeGarmo & Key, Petra, Keith Green and the list goes on.
Jerry Woods is a native of Southern California and appreciates the just about year-round sunny weather that Texas offers. He is the proud husband to Crystal, who he met on a radio cruise that general manager, Mike Agee helped organize. He is also the proud daddy to two little girls who were born on Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving. The Woods’ say that they’re a holiday family because Jerry met his wife on Valentine’s Day. He proposed on Christmas and they got married on Memorial Day. It makes important dates easier to remember. Jerry has been in radio since college and in addition to California he has lived in Washington, Idaho, North Carolina and Washington DC.
God is absolutely amazing! I resisted His pursuit of me all over the world, but finally gave in. It was a long journey, but my life since walking with Him has been the richest – and that’s saying a lot, as I used to be a very successful model. No longer rich in the things of this life, as I had to lose every earthly thing in order for me to look up, my treasure is now banked in heaven. In this temporary life, He has granted me the gift of a wonderful husband – Nicholas, an adoring orange furry-purry named Pumpkin, a beautiful black kitty-scamp named Prince Marco and a burning desire to share what He has done for me with others. I have been blessed with over nine years on the airwaves being able to do just that.
I’ve been in broadcasting since college, starting my career in 1978 at KSUC in Keene (now 88.3 The Journey). I love being back in Texas and having an opportunity to lead 88.3 The Journey. I enjoy playing golf, travel, books and being in the kitchen with friends. I’m proudest of thirty-seven years of marriage to my lovely bride Wanda and my two sons, Caleb and Daniel, who have grown into fine young men, despite their father.
