Manager’s Memo 7-8-22
If you’re going to be broken, I pray that it’s in this way…
So I was sitting by my parents pool in Southern California last month on a mother-son trip with a nice glass of tea, when my mom and I heard a crack and a pop followed by what sounded like falling and dropping pieces. Never a good thing to hear … usually. Except … for this one time. Because … it was my dad’s peach tree branch breaking and fruit falling!!! Just hours earlier, we had tried propping up the branches with a shepherds hook! This wasn’t bad because my goal was to eat 5-6 juicy peaches a day while visiting Cali. Besides having peach cobbler – hello over the grill- that evening, peach sauces and just peaches raw whenever I felt like it, something else started coming to mind. The tree branch broke under the weight of the fruit. My dad’s peach tree was bearing so much goodness, it broke under the weight of that goodness … man. That’s how much God wants to bless us! Overflowing into our brokenness. I hope that’s how God finds us. If we are found to be breaking, let it be under the weight of doing good.
Galatians 5:22 “fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness”.
