Manager’s Memo 5-12-23
How quickly do we expect God to answer us? We’ve been conditioned for instant responses by our smart devices and high-speed internet and have a hard time waiting on God’s answer (to load). I’m not saying God is old-fashioned or slow but … Do we expect God to … like instant message us back? Send us a notification or let us know that at this time at this minute our message was read? I can assure you that the moment you start praying God is working, but it’s not because of the combination of words we are saying, or that he’s more pleased with our behavior today than yesterday. It’s because we’re opening up our hearts and being vulnerable. We’re admitting we don’t have all the answers and we need help. Aurora has just started saying mama, and though I was quick to answer her cries before she pronounced it, now that she’s saying it intentionally, I’m even MORE responsive because … she’s calling my name. She’s calling on that relationship we share. And when you cry to God, you are too. Aurora sometimes thinks that I’m taking too long meeting her need. We might feel the same about God’s timing. Which is always perfect when we look back on our lives. Don’t let the way technology answers you instantly, to define the way God answers you. Run to Him in prayer. Call His name. God’s love for you is greater than any smart device and greater than my love for Aurora.
