Manager’s Memo 3-24-21
The book Ecclesiastes always strikes me as a book full of contradictions. It is full of “this is folly” and “chasing after the wind” while providing great advice on life, relationships, and leadership. Tradition holds it was written by an elderly Solomon as a reflection on his life and times. Not that I resonate with a grumpy, old man’s writings, but Chapter 4 is an excellent example of what I mean.
He declares the dead are better off than the living and then better to have not been born at all, straight into the pain of working alone and having no one to help you up when you fall. Obviously having a bad day. But then he goes on to share this great nugget. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Wow. We can’t be overpowered, left broken in the ditch when we fall, if, and this is a big if, we are together. We need each other. We were created for relationship. The pandemic only has made that more evident to me. We need God, and we need each other.
As the head janitor, I can assure you nothing happens at the Journey without together. Without Danae, Wanda, Jerry, Chris, and my student announcers and assistants, nothing happens here. Nothing happens without you tying your strand in by listening, praying, and sending in the occasional gift.
Would you prayerfully consider how you can help during our Sharathon, which starts in a few days? If you’re ready to give now, you can go to our website at 883 the journey dot org, and click the Give button at the top of the screen. And thanks in advance for your prayers and support for the Journey. We are better together.
For 88.3 The Journey, I’m General Manager Mike Agee.
