Manager’s Memo 12-04-2015
I’ve been waiting for more than three years to tell you this and the day has finally arrived. After lots of starts and stops, two engineering firms, environmental and wetland studies, confirmation of ancient burial ground locations, bird flight paths and checking boxes on pages of government forms, 88.3 The Journey is preparing to build a new tower and replace our 27-year-old antenna.
Our present tower is only 183 feet off the ground, which is tall if you had to climb it, but not very tall for radio standards around this flat land we call home. The new tower will be 350 feet, almost twice as tall as the one we are on now. More importantly, we get to replace old antenna technology. As you can imagine, some things have changed since our antenna was installed 27 seven years ago.
Like most things around here, though, we can’t do it without you. We’re still working on the cost of the tower construction, but we do know we need to purchase the new antenna. The total cost will be around $47,000 to manufacture and install it.
As you are considering your year end gifts, would you consider sending a gift to the Journey to help with improving our signal and sharing the Journey with even more people in North Texas? You can find more information about the new tower on our website at 88.3 the journey dot org.
For 88.3 The Journey, I’m General Manager Mike Agee.
