Manager’s Memo 1-3-22
As you start out your new year, I’d like us to keep something in mind. Subtly. I’m not talking about sneaking around. I’m talking about the way things creep into our lives. It’s like a growing plant or child, all the sudden, they’re taller. It’s the same with our thoughts and habits. Nobody just jumps into an extramarital affair right away, it starts subtly. More and more screen time is usually a subtle process that takes over our mind and lives. Bad habits with food or substances usually start subtly.
Jesus knows how the enemy likes to work us. Subtly. Proverbs 4:23 says “Guard your thoughts because they are the source of your life.” To guard something is to diligently protect it, being cautious, watchful, and mindful of possible threats. I believe God is warning us against subtly here. It’s opposite is to detect and analyze. Guard your heart this year, because it is the inspiration for ALL of your behavior. I’ll join you.
