Manager’s Memo 06-25-2018
My phone is living in Virginia now, apparently. I left it accidently during a caffeine and bathroom stop at a McDonald’s in Rural Retreat, Virginia, a town that doesn’t have cell service along Interstate 81, between Roanoke and Bristol Motor Speedway. I noticed a half hour later when we stopped for gas. It was gone by the time we got back and no one turned it in to lost and found. Disappointing and frustrating on a variety of levels, of course.
If you knew what you had, an iPhone 6s, you have to understand the data will be wiped when you turn it on and it will be flagged stolen, never able to be activated ever again. All you have is a useless wafer of glass, metal and silica sand. What was the thought process? Disappointing.
This led to the two days I spent not having a device I depend on heavily to live my life. Which led to thinking about the things I depend on every day that will, in the end, just disappoint me, as well. You see where I’m going. This led me straight to what, and who can I depend on? That is a short list indeed. But a worthy list, in my view.
Who or what are you depending on today? And a reminder for me last weekend, anything not connected to the Father and His Son only leads to disappointment and frustration.
For 88.3 The Journey, I’m General Manager Mike Agee.
