Manager’s Memo 02-03-2016
It’s official. I’m getting old. I’m surrounded most days by college students, who bubble with energy, enthusiasm and ideas. My oldest just turned 29, which means he is starting to talk about “I’m almost 30.” And in just a few short weeks, I’ll celebrate my 57th birthday.
One of my favorite Old Testament scriptures is a prayer of Moses David collected into the Psalms, a prayer Moses obviously wrote late in his life. Psalm 90 says “As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years. Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away. So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.” Seems a good life philosophy to me.
If you find yourself scarred, grizzled and grey like me, my prayer is God will help us to see the heart of wisdom He is growing in each of us, His children. If you are young, full of energy, enthusiasm and ideas, my council is count each of these precious days he gives us and remember our pride in our accomplishments is but labor and sorrow. What we do for the Kingdom is what matters for eternity.
For 88.3 The Journey, I’m General Manager Mike Agee.
